PhD Researcher Urban Sound Modelling

A research organisation in Noord-Holland offers a four-year PhD position on the noise of urban air mobility, such as air taxis and drones. You work in a team with a technical university.

What you will do:

• Develop and validate a noise propagation model that predicts frequency-dependent sound fields from urban air mobility vehicles
• Produce sound levels for noise assessment and binaural audio for virtual reality use
• Run validation measurements in an urban environment or at a scale mock-up, with an optional perception study
• Apply the model to cases such as perception studies and noise mitigation

What you bring:

• A master's degree in acoustics, physics, aerospace engineering or a related field
• Strong programming skills in a language such as Python
• Good spoken and written English, Dutch is desirable but not required
• A self-directed, collaborative attitude and openness to feedback
• A positive screening (VOG) is required
