Solution Architect Java

Our client, a prominent e-commerce platform based in Noord-Holland, is looking for a Solution Architect with a strong Java background to take ownership of backend system design and technical direction.

In this role, you will be the go-to person for architectural decisions across the order management, payment, and logistics domains. You combine hands-on technical depth with the ability to communicate trade-offs clearly to product and engineering leadership.

Key responsibilities:

• Design scalable, resilient microservices architectures using Java (Spring Boot) and event-driven patterns (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Create and maintain architecture decision records, system context diagrams, and integration specifications
• Evaluate and select technologies for new platform capabilities, balancing innovation with operational maturity
• Lead architectural reviews and provide guidance to development teams on design patterns and best practices
• Ensure non-functional requirements (performance, security, observability) are addressed in every solution design
• Act as the technical bridge between product management, engineering, and infrastructure teams

Requirements:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a solution or software architect role
• Expert knowledge of Java, Spring ecosystem, and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and container orchestration
• Strong understanding of API design, domain-driven design, and event sourcing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus
