Senior Test Automation Engineer

Our client, a digital banking platform headquartered in Amsterdam, is looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to take ownership of the automated testing strategy and framework.

In this role, you will build and maintain test automation across multiple layers of the application stack, from API contract tests to end-to-end UI flows. You will work within cross-functional teams and be instrumental in shifting quality left in the development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a scalable test automation framework covering API, UI, and integration testing
  • Write and maintain automated tests using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium, combined with REST-assured for API validation
  • Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring fast feedback loops and reliable gating
  • Set up and maintain performance testing using JMeter or Gatling for critical user journeys
  • Analyze test results, identify flaky tests, and drive improvements in test stability and coverage
  • Coach development teams on test-driven development and testing best practices

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in test automation engineering
  • Strong programming skills in Java, TypeScript, or Python
  • Hands-on experience with at least two modern test frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium)
  • Experience integrating tests into CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
  • Knowledge of financial services testing requirements is a plus
