Assistant Accountant

Our client, a respected mid-tier audit firm based in Rotterdam, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join the external audit team and work across a varied portfolio of SME clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional to gain broad audit experience while working toward the RA (Register Accountant) qualification. You will participate in statutory audits from planning to completion and develop rapidly in a supportive, learning-oriented environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Perform substantive and compliance audit procedures as part of statutory audit engagements
• Prepare audit working papers, document findings, and draft management letters
• Analyze financial statements and internal controls across a diverse client portfolio
• Assist with compilation engagements and year-end financial statement preparation for smaller clients
• Communicate with client finance teams to gather information and discuss audit observations
• Contribute to the firm’s quality assurance and methodology improvement initiatives

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, or currently enrolled in the RA program
• 1 to 3 years of experience in external audit or a financial controlling role
• Knowledge of Dutch GAAP and Dutch audit standards (NV COS)
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
• Fluent in Dutch and English
